Enzo Maresca has doubted whether Chelsea will sign a Center-Back before the Transfer Deadline of September.
Maresca made his desire for newcomers clear after Levi Colwill had sustained an ACL injury. The international of England has undergone an operation and will miss most of the current campaign.
Maresca expressed his concern about Chelsea’s current options in the absence of Colwill earlier this month, but suggested that the club’s board would probably not enter the transfer market. The window closes on 1 September, but Maresca has repeated that Chelsea is aimed at ‘internal solutions.
Josh Acheampong started alongside Trevoh Chalobah in the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace, with the 19-year-old in for the wounded Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo.
“We are looking for an internal solution,” said Maresca at his press conference before the competition prior to West Ham on Friday.
“We have shown that last match against Palace and we will see what is happening, we are trying to find a solution.
“I said, and I repeat again – I have to improve my English – we are looking for a solution and we will see what happens.”
