A hair -raising video has surfaced from the Haridwar Temple StampedCatching the chaos and despair while dedicated climbing to escape. The clip, recorded outside the Mansa Devi temple, shows a crowd in all directions while a man frantically “peate jaao (go back)” shouts to control the panic.

At least six people were killed and more than 25 injured in the Stormloop in the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar on Sunday after a massive crowd collected along the pedal route of the popular sanctuary, officials said.

The Garhwal Division Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the incident and said: “Six people died in a rush after a huge crowd was collected in the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. I am leaving for the place. A detailed report of the incident is waiting”.

The incident unfolded in the midst of an inflow of devoted and reportedly led to chaos and panic. As soon as information about the Stampede came in, police and administrative teams were brought to the site.

Rescue and auxiliary operations are underway. Authorities are busy identifying the victims and assessing the cause of the suspected electrocution. Five of the wounded people have been moved to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).

An eyewitness, who identified herself as Bunty, told India Today TV that broke out the chaos after dedicated a stream that ran through a pole near the temple.

“There was a pole near the temple where people said they felt an electric current. Then people started to panic and followed a rush,” he said.

However, the police have excluded electrocution as the cause of the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his participation in the affected families and said that the local administration helps the affected administration.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives as a result of a rush on the route to the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Condolances to those who have lost their loved ones. May the wounded recover. The local administration helps the affected,” said the prime minister.
