Carlos Prates is as football legend Romario – smoking and partying, but an incredible athlete says training partner

Fighting Nerds co-founder Caio Borralho sees many similarities between his teammate, Carlos Prates and football legend Romário de Souza Faria.

After giving up his first loss in the Octagon in April, Prates bounced back with a mean first round of elbow Ko against Geoff Neal on UFC 319 in Chicago. The victory not only brought Prates back in the Welterweight title interview, but it also served to hide many of the Brazilian critics.

Prates has been taken under fire in recent years after he has revealed that he regularly smokes cigarettes, a big no-no for most world-class athletes. However, there are people who have praised prates because they are open and honest about his annoying habit, including Borralho, who regularly trains next to ‘The Nightmare’ in their native Brazil.

“I think he is faithful to himself. Many athletes who smoke feel guilty about it,” said Borralho in an interview thanks to thanks Stake.com. “If you feel guilty, it will bring your energy down, and you will not perform the way you want. It is certainly not the example for the young generation, but he is faithful to himself.

“He also doesn’t get tired, man! He does 5, 6, 7 rounds, and never gets tired! Can everyone be like Carlos? No, but he does it! Brazil had a football player named Romario years ago. He was known for parties, but when it came to play, he was great. I was great.

Carlos Prates and Caio Borralho can be one victory away from a title option

Smoking does not seem to have had no influence on the ability of prates to be in the Octagon. Although he fell short against Ian Machado Garry, Prates set up a solid five-round performance against the Irish star.

After his statement victory over Neal, Prates was able to stand in line for another five-rounder and possibly a big victory away from a shot in the undisputed world change title.

As far as Borralho is concerned, the striping middleweight sensation will take over the number 1 ranking of the division if he meets the current top-ranging competitor in UFC Paris this Saturday evening Nassourdine Imavov.
