Carlos Alcaraz remained on the title course of Cincinnati Masters after expelling Andrey Rublev 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in two hours and 17 minutes. The Russian played well and pushed the Spaniard to the borders.

World no. 2 loved his calmness, despite a few loose moments, enjoying his play and finding a way through the crucial moments of the game.

Positive thoughts and mental power pushed the five-time big winner over the top and 1000 semi-final in another Masters. Alcaraz will be confronted with Alexander Zverev on Saturday.

Rublev made a slow start but then moisture well. The Russian hit the ball nicely and never gave up. He made a late break before he lost at the decisive moment.

The Spaniard only claimed three points more than his rival. He serves twice as many opportunities that are presented to Andrey and gave four breaks in sets one and three to appear at the top.

“I always remained positive thoughts, despite the loss of the focus at some times. If you lose the focus against someone like Andrey, it can cost you the match. I couldn’t find my first serve when I served for the win over 5-3 in the third.

However, I remained strong and positive, and I am proud of that. Playing a decision maker is always difficult, but I like to play in these atmospheres because it makes me very happy. It was a very tight match, decided by a few details.

Andrey played an incredible match, especially with his first ministry. He also increased the pace of his second service, which was never the case before. I am happy with how I played, moved and the ball hit.

I remained mentally strong and kept positive thoughts when I could not serve for the victory. When those setbacks happen, I try not to let myself float away and lose ground, “said Carlos Alcaraz.
