The pair return to competition after a blockbuster event in San Francisco, where Team World recorded a 15-9 victory over Team Europe to claim their third title – and first under Captain Andre Agassi.
Alcaraz and Fritz have already produced some of the most dramatic moments in the recent history of the Laver Cup. In Berlin, Alcaraz was victorious in match 12 to secure the title for Team Europe, while in San Francisco Fritz responded with his first win over the Spaniard before taking victory for Team World against Alexander Zverev in another match-12 decider. They now return to the Laver Cup stage, ready to reignite their rivalry and battle for team supremacy.
The 2026 edition marks the return of the Laver Cup to London – the scene of one of the most unforgettable moments in tennis history. That was at The O2 in 2022 Roger Federer brought his legendary career to an end in front of a packed London audience alongside his old rivals Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic And Andy Murray.
Although Team World has claimed three of the last four Laver Cup titles, Team Europe leads the overall rivalry 5-3. Home support has proven decisive in five of the eight editions so far – an advantage that Alcaraz and Team Europe will look to exploit when the competition returns to London.
“Playing at The O2 in London will be great,” said Alcaraz. “Having the opportunity to be in a team with players I normally compete against during the year is really unique and makes me want to play the Laver Cup every year. Hopefully we have the crowd behind us and I am very motivated to help Team Europe win the Laver Cup back.”
At just 22 years old, Alcaraz has already achieved extraordinary milestones in the sport. Last week, he achieved the coveted end-of-world No. 1 ranking for the second time, after becoming the youngest end-of-world No. 1 in the history of the PIF ATP Rankings in 2022.
“Carlos brings unique talent, passion and confidence that lifts everyone around him. He is dedicated to his teammates and has an intense desire to win. I am excited to have him back,” said Team Europe captain Yannick Noah.
Fritz, the highest-ranked American, has become a cornerstone of Team World, competing in five editions and playing a key role in all three of their titles.
“Laver Cup is such an exciting week for me,” said Fritz. “I love the team atmosphere, the energy you get from playing these games, when you’re playing for more than just yourself, is incredible. I’m looking forward to spending another week with Team World and we’ll be there with the aim of winning.”
“Taylor embodies everything the Laver Cup is about: passion, perseverance, dedication to the team and achieving big moments,” said Team World Captain Agassi. “As we saw in San Francisco, he thrives on this stage and brings so much to our team. I’m thrilled he’ll be back in London next year.”
“We are delighted to bring the Laver Cup back to London,” he said Tony Godsick, Chairman of the Laver Cup and CEO of TEAM8. “The O2 holds a special place in the history of our event and the sport and has hosted some of the most memorable moments of the Laver Cup. After a record-breaking edition in San Francisco, we expect another great match in front of a packed arena.”

Named in honor of the Australian tennis legend Rod Laverthe Laver Cup pits six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six of their counterparts from the rest of the world. The competition is played on a dramatic black pitch and consists of five sessions spread over three days. Each player participates in at least one singles match during the first two days, and no more than two during the three-day competition. At least four of the six players must play doubles. Each match win is worth one point on Friday, two points on Saturday and three points on Sunday, with the first team to reach 13 points winning the Laver Cup.
The three highest ranked players from each region, Europe and the World, based on their ATP singles rankings as of the Monday after Roland-Garros, will receive an automatic invitation to play the Laver Cup. If any of these players choose not to participate, the offer will be made to another high-ranking player. Each team’s remaining three spots are ‘Captain’s Picks’ and can be announced at any time before the start of the US Open. By naming Alcaraz and Fritz to their teams now, Captains Noah and Agassi commit to using a Captain’s Pick on them if they fail to qualify based on their ranking.
