The cardinals released Garrett HampsonAccording to the utility man Mlb.com Profile page. Hampson was appointed earlier this week for allocation, and although he had the option to refuse an outright assignment in favor of a free agency, it seems like the cards that have just been streamlined by the process with a release as soon as Hampson knew exemptions.
It is possible that Hampson could sign elsewhere before the 2025 season ends, if a team wants a versatile depth in the minors or on a big league bank. Hampson, however, has rarely brought a lot with his bat during his eight Major League seasons, and his attack was sunk to a career-stretch .143/.250/.169 over 91 record performances in 2025.
The nomadic character of Hampton’s season did not help him in a groove of the dish. Starting the season with a Minor League contract with the Diamondbacks, he was released for the first time this year in May after being released in 18 MLB matches for Arizona. A stint in Cincinnati did not go any better, because after about a month of Hampson the Reds indicated for assignment, but St. Louis then claimed to abandon Hampson from the distance declarations at the end of June.
The release officially ends the Hampson cards at 35 games, and this year he has been given 62 games in the matches about his three different teams. This is the least amount of action that Hampson received during an MLB season of the regulation since his smoking year 2018, when he debuted with 24 games with the Rockies. His ability to play everywhere in the diamond should continue to get that Hampson looks on Minor League contracts, even if it can be difficult for him to escape from the proverbial “last man on the Roster” status.
