Finally, the waiting of Cameron Young is over when he overrolled the field to win the Wyndham championship for his first PGA Tour victory.
Young was broken this week with his putter and apparently made everything, including five birdies in a row at the start of the last round of Sunday in Sedgefield Country Club.
That club has been a problem for Young for the past two seasons, when he succeeded outside the top 140: Put, but this year he arrived in the 10th in the last week of the regular season. That coincides with finding a new Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 Tour prototype Putter this season, which seems to have helped him come over the bump.
The Phantom 9 is one of the highest MOI hammers in the Scotty Cameron matrix, and Young’s has a fairly clean top with a single full line of sight. The “.5” indication indicates a short sloping neck to give the putter more toe stream than an axle with one loan.
Young also hit flowering discs with his title GT2 driver. He came in the week in only 70th in SG: off the tee, despite his wonderful length. This week he was won second in Sercoertes, second in distance and top 30 in accuracy on the way to a huge victory.
Young went more under the radar and this week also made a secret switch to the Golf Pride MCC lines Max. Young becomes the second player who wins with the new grip and the second who wins in his first week of change. Young had previously played the Tour velvet cord of Tour velvet alignment models, so the MCC lines Max is like a mix of both styles, but with the larger ridge of the new Align Max.

The K* Grind represents an evolution of the original K, designed in response to feedback from today’s players who are looking for versatility on Stever courses. It is based on the low bounce K, with adjustments such as heel-to-one relief for open-face shots and pre-Wear to reduce digging on shots on square face. This new design enables the club to sit closer to the ground when it is opened, improving the performance of the greenside while maintaining the reliable bunker game of the original K Grind. The K* gravel is available in 58 ° and 60 ° lofts (RH only) with a rough finish.
