Cadillac dominated the Detroit Show, with no European luxury brands

If you’re in the market for a BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Audi, Jaguar, Volvo or Acura, a visit to the Detroit Auto Show is normally worth it this time of year, if only to get out of the cold.

But none of these luxury brands will be at this year’s show, which ends on Sunday, January 25 and has become a smaller, regional event.

So that means Cadillac, Lincoln, Alfa Romeo and Buick have carpet cars, and Cadillac actually has a dramatic concept car, the Elevated Velocity with gull-wing doors and a wild interior. And here’s your chance to see an all-electric Cadillac Celestiq up close, with a sticker price starting around $400,000.

While luxury brands have generally skipped Motown this year, you’ll see a Lucid Gravity electric SUV, because it was nominated for North American Utility of the Year (but lost to Hyundai Palisade). You’ll also see some big offerings from Bentley and Rolls-Royce on the show floor, as show organizers have called in favors from local dealers and car collectors to spice things up.
