The Ministry of Finance has said that as of 4pm yesterday, over 10 million of the 16 million eligible Malaysians (62.5%) have purchased 365.7 million liters of RON 95 petrol at the subsidized RM1.99 per liter (RM727.7 million in total) since Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) started on September 27 for police and military personnel. “The implementation of the targeted petrol subsidy of RON 95 under the Budi95 initiative has attracted a very encouraging response from the people since its launch on September 27, 2025,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement yesterday, adding that transactions peak at more than three million transactions per day on weekends.
“This shows that Malaysians are willing to embrace a targeted subsidy approach that is transparent, efficient and delivers tangible benefits. It also proves the effectiveness of the MyKad digital verification system at petrol stations, which runs smoothly and reliably,” the ministry said.
Senator Datuk Dr. Fuziah Salleh, who is also Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), announced yesterday that only 34 Budi95-related complaints have been received so far, mainly due to minor technical issues.
