Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim gave an honest review of the 2-2 draw on his part with Everton tonight, in particular several players.
While Man United left with the Premier League Summer Series Trophy, the team was disappointed to hold a 2-2 draw with the Toffees, despite dominating a large part of the game.
The general team performance
“Let’s talk about the tour, I think it was really important to us, it was perfect for us, because we had time to work. In the end we have the feeling that we still have to do a lot of work,” Amorim explained, without bumping into his criticism of his team.
“It was a good tour – today we didn’t play well. We were mainly struggling with the structure. We struggled with long balls and second balls of the opponents, so we have a lot to do.”
The striking player
While Bruno Fernandes took a goal and an assist, it was Mason Mount who received an honorable mention from Amorim in his TV interview after the game.
“He does everything 100%. Every training, every game, he is always the same player. For you to keep the consistency, you have to work and he works a lot.”
Yet he also devoted some time to shine a light on Bryan Mbeumo, who made his debut for the club.
Amorim on Mbeumo
“I think of course he played well, he has to improve in many things,” Amorim explained.
“You can feel that the physicality of Bryan is not perfect. That is normal, but the first touch, the way in which he turns around, to make contact with the other boys, the runs he has made, is really important.”
“He becomes really important in our team,” Amorim concluded and revealed his high expectations for Mbeumo.
With one pre-season match to go-a home game against Fiorentina-Zal Mbeumo promote itself to prove itself further.
Of course, given the assessment of Amorim, it seems that Mbeumo could have a great responsibility for United in the coming season.
