First ever WA winners for The Block, but not everyone walked away happy after a “big job” to sell 5 luxury homes in Daylesford.
A Block auction is never a drama.
The hope of selling five $3 million properties in Daylesford proved “a tall order”, in the words of host Sctot Cam, as two houses were passed over.
Britt & Taz emerged as the first ever winners from WA, walking away with $520,000, while two couples earned $0.

The episode began with the traditional debate over the auction order, with a bonus of $250,000 worth of wine to be divided among the highest bidders.
After much deliberation, the auction order was agreed upon… unlike 2024 when everything fell apart. As usual, no one was happy with their $2.99 million reserves.
With that taken care of, it was time for the gavel and the participants sitting next to Scott Cam and watching the bids via monitors.
The first home, renovated by Britt & Taz, set a great pace at auction for $3.41 million, making a profit of $420,000.
But the mood soon changed….
Robby & Mat sold as a second property for just under $3.1 million for a profit of $110,000. Nevertheless, there were tears and long faces. If you had just tuned in, you might think it wouldn’t have sold at all…
At Auction 3, Emma and Ben struggled to sell their property. The auction was paused because the seller placed a bid of $3.1 million. It was passed around, as bewildered Blockheads looked in. Both Emma and Ben kept their upper lips tight despite the defeat.
Auction 4, Sonny & Alicia, chose to start with a vendor bid of $3,050,000 to avoid a low profit over reserve. After no bids were made, a late bid of $3,060,000 was made for a profit of $120,000. Both were delighted with the result, despite only being $10,000 above the boys.
Han & Can never wanted to be the last auction, and those who remember episode one will remember a disagreement over the house they wanted to renovate. She also opened with a supplier bid of $3.1 million, but after no bids were received, the auction was approved. They continued to laugh despite their disappointment.
Britt and Taz said: “It’s phenomenal to walk away with such a reward for all the hard work we’ve put in. This is life-changing for us, it’s incredible. It’s our mortgage paid off.”
“But it’s mixed feelings because we really wanted everyone to go home a winner and sell their house.
“I thought our auction set the tone for everyone else. We took it upon ourselves to do that, and we were shocked more than anything. We had worked as a team until the end, so it’s just a little hard for us to see what happened today.”
Taz said he was very proud of Britt because he didn’t really want to be on the show.
“We had put it on the back burner for the last few years because it was never the right time, but it got to the point where I couldn’t say no to Britt anymore. She never wavered from day one. She had a vision and she did it.”
Britt said: “I’m so proud of Taz too. He’s worked so hard. We’ve sacrificed so much to be here and get this result. Even though our hearts are breaking for our teammates, we’re also so proud of ourselves.”
Scott Cam said, “Today was more realistic about what moms and dads go through when they sell their homes. Some are successful and some aren’t. But we want all of our participants to be successful.
“We spent three months filming with them and got to know them all so well, but unfortunately Em and Ben and Han and Can couldn’t do it today. But they still have the chance to be rewarded for their hard work when the houses come back on the market.”
“Congratulations to Britt and Taz on their well-deserved win and the beautiful home they have created.”
Executive producer Julian Cress said: “Auction Day is difficult for all of us. There is no other day in the year when we wake up feeling physically ill when we go to work. We are concerned because we become so close to our participants over the months and we want everyone to be well.”
“It’s bittersweet to see two buyers from the Pilbara make half a million dollars at auction, which is great, but then to see a young couple like Emma and Ben, who have just had a baby, pass away, as well as Han and Can. It’s been an up and down and sometimes very tough day for some.”
This season’s winnings totaled $749,999. Two houses that were entered will now go to private negotiations.
