Brazil, Kazakhstan in the lead at the World Cup < World ParaVolley

Brazilian women and men from Kazakhstan extended their undefeated streak at the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup at the Turnstone Center in Fort Wayne on Tuesday, tightening their grip on the leaderboard midway through pool play.

Brazil remained the only undefeated team after a 3-0 victory over Italy (25-18, 25-21, 25-17) in the women’s tournament. The South Americans won every set with consistent scoring margins, completing their third straight victory.

The United States improved its position with a 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-23) victory over Canada. The home side dominated the first set, led by two points in the second and narrowly closed out the third to equal their record with Canada at 2-1.

Germany produced the only five-set match of the day and managed to defend itself after two sets behind against the Netherlands 3-2 (15-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-10). The result gave Germany their first win of the tournament after a strong recovery midway through the match.

In the men’s section, Kazakhstan strengthened its lead in Group A with two wins in a row, to remain perfect after four matches. They opened the day with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-22) victory over Canada, taking control early in the first two sets before holding off a closer finish in the third. In their second match, Kazakhstan defeated France 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-14), narrowly winning the opening frame before completing the sweep with two more deciding sets.

Egypt also remained undefeated after a 3-1 (25-22, 12-25, 25-12, 25-13) victory against Croatia. The African team recovered quickly after dropping the second set to regain control and close the match in four and extend their record to 4–0.

The United States recorded its fourth victory with a 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20) result against Poland. The hosts split the first two sets before taking the lead in the third and fourth to secure their second win of the competition.

Brazil recorded two wins in Group B and remained undefeated. They defeated Japan 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-17) in the morning session and returned in the evening to beat the Netherlands 3-1 (25-8, 25-22, 25-13). Thailand recorded their second win after a 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 13-25, 25-23) result over Italy, while Australia defeated India 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20) to round out the men’s results.

With the preliminary round past the midpoint, competition remains open in both tournaments as teams move closer to the knockout rounds later in the week in Fort Wayne.
