American teams perform as the World Cup intensifies in Fort Wayne < World ParaVolley

Both U.S. teams shined at the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup on Monday, energizing the Turnstone Center crowd with impressive wins that highlighted a strong performance by the hosts. U.S. men boosted their perfect record to 3-0, matching the pace of Egypt’s 2023 World Cup silver medalists, while U.S. women rebounded from their opening day defeat to Italy to claim their first win of the tournament.

US men opened Day 2 with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) win over Canada and added another straight-sets victory later in the evening, this time over Italy 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-17). The result left the hosts undefeated after three matches, all won in straight sets.

Egypt reflected that success with two straight-sets results, beating Japan 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-22) in the morning and then beating Australia 3-0 (25-6, 25-7, 25-8) to remain undefeated. Both teams now share the lead in the men’s rankings after two match days.

In the remaining men’s matches, Kazakhstan started the day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-11) victory over Poland. Brazil came from two sets down to complete a 3-2 (17-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 15-8) comeback win against Croatia. The Netherlands secured a 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-11) result over India, while Thailand ended the day with a straight-sets win against France (25-15, 25-17, 25-19), further leveling Pool A.

In the women’s competition, American women earned a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-13) victory against the Netherlands, recording their first win of the event. The result gave the team a boost after Sunday’s defeat to Italy in five sets and marked an encouraging response in the preliminary round.

Canada continued its strong start, beating Italy 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24) to improve to 2-0. The 2023 silver medalists now share the same record as Brazil, who also claimed their second win with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-13) result over Germany. Both teams are among the early leaders in the women’s standings.

The second day of competition concluded with momentum building in both tournaments. With the USA and Egypt maintaining their undefeated form and Canada and Brazil claiming early control, the action at the Turnstone Center is gearing up for an intense continuation of pool play in Fort Wayne.
