Beach ParaVolley Worlds ready to make history in Mersin < World ParaVolley

Beach ParaVolley will reach a new milestone when the 2025 WPV Beach ParaVolley World Championships take place in Mersin from October 18 to 25, as part of the World Abilitysport Beach Games.

The Games will be the first global event dedicated solely to beach and aquatic disciplines, marking a new phase in the growth and visibility of the sport. Mersin, a well-known host of major international competitions, will host the Beach ParaVolley World Championships at Pompei Beach, a purpose-built venue along the city’s Mediterranean coast.

The event is organized through a partnership between World ParaVolley, World Abilitysport and the Türkiye National Paralympic Committee. It follows the renewed Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two international organizations in 2023, aimed at increasing opportunities for Para-athletes and creating shared pathways for the long-term development of the sport.

The men’s tournament in Mersin will bring together teams from Poland, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, the United States, Slovakia and Latvia, with Türkiye and the US fielding multiple teams each. Defending champion Poland returns with the same quartet – Dariusz Cegielka, Filip Gaca, Artur Wasowicz and Rafal Wojtowicz – who went undefeated and won gold at the 2024 edition in Chongqing, China.

The competition starts on October 21 with the preliminary round and runs until October 23, before the semi-finals and medal matches on October 24. The final composition of the pool and the competition order will be confirmed during the preliminary investigation and technical meeting prior to the opening day.

As one of the highlight events of the World Abilitysport Beach Games, the championships will bring together athletes, officials and fans in a celebration of sport and inclusivity. The competition will showcase Beach ParaVolley’s progress as it continues to build its identity within the global parasports community.

The competitions in Mersin will offer more than just results and rankings. They will reflect the dedication of athletes and organizers working to develop a sport that combines skill, teamwork and opportunity on the sand.
