Hockey is very back in the air. Prospect tournaments are underway on the NHL prior to training camps that will be open next week.
For the Columbus Blue Jackets, the 2025-26 season marks their 25-year anniversary season in the NHL. Various activities and events will be held throughout the year to honor their quarter of a century.
At the end of last week, the Blue Jackets revealed what their 25 -year anniversary logo looked like on the ice. That is where we start with this week’s edition of Blue Jackets News & Rumors.
25 -year anniversary logo
The Blue Jackets rather revealed what the logo looked like. The team started their process of installing the ice in Nationwide Arena, including the debut of the 25 -year anniversary logo at Center Ice.
In total it costs around 14,000 liters of water and 300 liters of white paint to make a surface that is 1 ″ to 1.25 ″ thick. A certain level of care and precision is needed to make everything work.
As part of ICE installation, Ice Operations Director Sean Murphy spoke about the process and what is needed to prepare everything. Here is a bit of what he had to say about how the process starts.
“We clean the floor, bring each dirt to that of the shows in the summer as clean as possible. Then we put down a very thin layer of water to start. As soon as we have a base layer of water down, we will use white powder grease that is specific to make ice. That is what makes the ice white. Logos. We put in a logo today.”
Murphy continued to say that cleaning up is one of the most important things they do when it comes to preparing the ice. With various shows in the city, such as concerts and monster trucks during the summer, fat and other dirt can be anywhere. Their team has to clean it up as much as possible, otherwise the ice itself can become a problem halfway through the year, because the water will not freeze well.
Murphy usually arrives approximately 10 hours a day for most of the work. But he will come in early and stay late to ensure that even the smallest details are perfect. It is a job that does not receive much attention, but its importance cannot be underestimated.

Murphy started to say that the ice must remain at a depth of 1 ″ to 1.25 ″ by NHL instructions throughout the season. It is also not just one layer of water that is frozen. They are several smaller, thinner layers that make the ice surface. Once the ice is installed, it is installed throughout the season, regardless of the shows that continue during the year. It is his job to constantly check the ice surface to ensure that it meets the necessary standards set out.
Although a lot of work is done, the end product makes the time it is worth. The logo is prominently present in the middle ice cream and crystal clear. The water used in ice goes through a process of removing solids to make the logo clearer to see.
Fans get their first view of the new logo at Center ICE during the first pre -season match of the team on Sunday 21 September against the St. Louis Blues.

The Blue Jackets do not play on Friday, but play matches against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and then on Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Note that Luca Pinelli is wearing the C for the team this week. Williams and Guillaume Richard each carry the As.
The Blue Jackets have different invitations in this schedule since some of their top perspectives are at the university and are not eligible to play in this tournament. Regarding a storyline to pay attention to during the weekend, it is an opportunity to see where the players are in their development against similar competition. It also gives the invitations the chance to impress with different scouts in the stands. We will also see what an invitation will receive for the main camp.
