Block winners Britt and Taz unveil next chapter of lucrative real estate play – realestate.com.au

After captivating the nation at The Block 2025, fan favorites Britt and Taz are making headlines again – this time with a major property move that reveals their clever post-win property strategy.

The couple, who call remote Newman, WA, home, have announced an “incredibly difficult” decision to say goodbye to the city, setting their sights on a return to Perth where their property portfolio is already making waves.

The beloved duo, who pocketed a whopping $420,000 above reserve plus another $100,000 in prize money from their Block win, revealed on December 21 that a new career opportunity is driving their move.

“We have been given an incredible new opportunity within the police force, which means it is time for a new chapter, and we will be moving back to our family home in Yanchep, Perth,” they shared on Instagram, accompanied by professional family photos.

Records show that Britt and Taz purchased their Yanchep property in 2017 for a modest $217,000.

What was once a plot of land has since been transformed into a modern four-bedroom, two-bathroom home complete with a swimming pool – a testament to their vision and investment.

Current listing data shows the property is now listed for rent at $900 per week, and has a resale value of approximately $845,000 and $1.03 million.

The couple also secured a plot of land in Cable Beach in 2024 for $330,000, according to records, further diversifying their real estate holdings.

The beautiful four-bedroom home currently rents for around $900 per week.

Cable Beach is located near Broome and is known for its world famous 22 km long white sandy beach and turquoise water.

Reflecting on their time in Newman, the couple expressed their deep gratitude.

“When we first moved here, we had no idea what awaited us,” they wrote.

“Newman gave us the simplest, most meaningful moments and the greatest friendships. Friends became family, and the memories we made here will be cherished forever.” They recognized that the city’s community had “shaped” their family more than they “ever expected,” making the farewell particularly poignant.

As he returns to police work, Taz has previously hinted that he wants to explore media opportunities, telling New Idea that he hasn’t ruled out “working in media” alongside his full-time job if the right opportunity presents itself.

Log houses are still on the market as experts have doubts about sales in 2025

While Britt and Taz look to end 2025 on a positive note, industry experts doubt whether The Block’s House 1 and 2 will secure buyers before the end of the year.

Both properties were sold at auction with bids reaching $3.1 million, with Channel 9 waiting for higher bids in private negotiations.

However, almost two months later, both 5 Cedar Lane (owned by Ben and Emma) and 4 Cedar Lane (owned by Han and Can) are still listed with an indicative asking price of $3.1 million, a figure that is proving difficult to achieve in the current market.

Ben and Emma, whose mid-century and country design at 5 Cedar Lane won praise for its wine cellar and native landscaping, which was a ‘beautiful retreat for adults’, expressed their disappointment after the auction.

The Block contestants Emma and Ben are still waiting for their private home and home from the TV show to be sold.

“It was extremely disappointing that our house did not sell on auction day,” they admitted.

“It was definitely not the fairytale ending we had dreamed of.”

The couple’s financial strain is underscored by their decision to put their own Mornington “dream home,” a four-bedroom, two-bathroom Hamptons-inspired residence, on the market for $1.75 million to $1.925 million.

The high reserve prices set by Channel 9 at $2.99 million for all five homes were a point of contention among participants and market observers alike.

Although three properties sold under the hammer – including Britt and Taz’s winning home, the total prize pool of $749,999 was the smallest since the 2011 season, reflecting tighter market conditions.

4 Cedar Lane, Daylesford is still looking for a buyer.

For Han and Can’s House 2, located at 4 Cedar Lane, the struggle to meet buyer interest above the $2.99 million threshold reflects the broader challenge of selling high-quality properties in a competitive environment.

Bell Property Daylesford sales agent Natalie Fagan – who is facilitating the sale of Fan and Can’s home – said The Block’s reserve prices on auction day were “too ambitious”.

“The price is now higher than what was in reserve, so there are challenges with that… but we are still mentoring people and still getting questions,” she said.
