The BKFC lightweight tournament field continues to develop with a follow-up match scheduled between Austin Trout and Luis Palomino, with a previous BKFC lightweight title challenger, who fought Palomino for the title, weighing in on who he sees winning that tournament.
Tyler Goodjohn talked about Luis Palomino and Austin Trout, who will be back on that tournament field in December. Also, Franco Tenaglia has advanced to the finals to fight the winner of Trout-Palomino 2 after the former BKFC champion recently scored a victory over interim lightweight champion Ben Bonner.
When asked who he sees emerging from that field as the BKFC lightweight champion once the dust settles, Goodjohn said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“So, [Austin] Trout are getting heavier. Okay. I mean, look, it is; I think Trout just has the style and the jab. During the two minutes, the five laps, I think he has the circle clear. Luis Palomino has never lost at the age of 155. So, you know, at the end of the day, look, I trained with him [Palomino]I fought him. Whatever I think of him, he is a very, very, very good fighter.”
“He thinks about what he does. To be honest, he trains like crazy. Like he’s 44 and he just trains so hard. So look, yeah, you can’t bet against him.” [Franco] Tenaglia very, very, very tough. A bit raw. I actually thought he lost the fight against James Lilley.”
“[Tenaglia’s] nowhere near Trout or Palomino” in terms of BKFC skills, Goodjohn said
It appears the former BKB champion is heavily favoring the winner of Trout-Palomino 2 to advance and win the BKFC lightweight title tournament outright, as Goodjohn continued:
“I thought James Lilley actually got up from the deck that first round, which I couldn’t believe he got up, and I thought he actually won. To be honest, I actually thought that [Tony] Soto beat him too. I know it was close, because of the knockdowns and stuff like that. I don’t really like; I consider him a bare-knuckle fighter, but in terms of skills and technique, he is [Tenaglia’s] nowhere near Trout or Palomino.”
