Biteesize Tactics: Jack Grealish to Everton

Jack Grealisk has the chance to earn more playing time and to breathe new life into his career, moving to Everton from Manchester City in a seasonal loan. Grealish will certainly have a point to prove, who made only 7 competition starting worker last season, and not at all in the FA Cup Final League against Crystal Palace. And in addition, Grealisk was able to offer the side of David Moyes further creativity in attack. But although it was a necessary movement for the place, was it that way for the club?

Grealisk was praised for his role in the promotion of Aston Villa back to the top flight and the subsequent recovery as a Premier League side. Although Grealisk often started wide left, he took a free role in Villa’s attack with a permit to drift centrally, or even to the opposite flank, where he could receive the ball and dribble or a wide range of spaces.

His final relocation of £ 100 million to City supervised a development of the Wingers game that did have an effect on his role. Grealisk added layers to his game that were not so clear before, including following back and a smart preservation of possession, and he was involved in the historic Treble of the city.

But he was expected to adhere to his position in the Pep Guardiola system, that the wing players will see high and wide. Grealische can easily insulate an opposite broad player, but his quality seems more when he is able to cut in and drive over the attack, instead of often attacking the right back along the outside of the flank.

It could be said that Grealisk will certainly get more freedom to leave the wing in Everton. That could bring even more to the ability of Grealishe to hire players, attract mistakes and create space for teammates. Grealisk will want to replicate the impact, both Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne had in a Toffees shirt, which inspired his choice of #18 to wear on his back.

There were other songs, but my two favorite English players are once Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne and I know they both wore number 18 here.

If we look back on Grealish’s figures in the last five seasons, he was more productive in Take us and creating opportunities while playing for Villa. He also offered a renowned output for City, but there was a drop -off compared to playing for one side that, albeit less dominant in possession, offered Grealishe more positional and creative freedom.

Grealish’s domestic figures since 2020/21, thanks to FBref. Grealisk was Villa’s most important maker, and his number, albeit well in the city, ran on a drop-off, perhaps to his different tactical role. There was an increase in his number last season, but this was helped by playing fewer minutes.

Teams will not be as deep against Everton as they tend to City, so Grealisk may benefit from there when he has the ball in the last third, where there is probably more room for runners to exploit, which can then be chosen with Balls van Graalis. Grealisk will also benefit if he is supported by an overlapping full-back, instead of a full-back that stays deeper or turns himself. An earlier combination of João Cancelo, and Grealisk did not work so well in the city, because it might seem to be on paper. Matt Targett worked as a more suitable partner for Grealisk on the left in Villa.

The performances of Everton were picked up last season after the reappointment of David Moyes, who aimed to get more out of his attacking options, compared to predecessor Sean Dyche. The side on average more goals after the management switch, and although their form was mixed, Everton won their last three games and hope that they can carry that form in the new season.

But last season’s team had to be strengthened. Since then a number of players have left, including full-back Ashley Young, midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, as well as Center-Forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and various positions that had to be strengthened anyway.

Doucoure had played as a no. 10 and in his absence, Everton opted for various profiles in that area. Not only have Everton brought in Grealish, they have also made the transfer of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo permanent and Kiernan Desbury-Hall from Chelsea brought in for a few worth of up to £ 28 million. Dewsbury-Hall will also be looking for more playing time, which has been shown in the UEFA Conference League for Chelsea. Everton has also strengthened in advance by signing Thierno Barry from Villarreal, and he combined well with Dewsbury-Hall during the preseason.

In the meantime, Iliman Ndiaye, who tends to go left, was the best player of Everton last season. Dwight McNeil even played in a more central role. So was the signing of two new makers, who can play centrally or wide left, if necessary as necessary as the signing of more defenders or a right -sided attacker? Extra depth is perhaps a good problem to have for Everton; In all three options mentioned, they have players who offer an eye for a pass, they want to drip forward and offer an eye for goal; Last season Ndiaye finished with 11 goals in all competitions.

Can all three fit in the same starting XI? Perhaps Dewssbury-Hall could play deeper, although he was further impressed by Roma, where Ndiaye went in, so that Grealisk could move wide left, or Ndiaye could switch to the right, which would minimize the need for a right winger, but would remove Ndiaye from where he was regularly stationed for Everton.

Although in that case a starting place for Grealisk does not seem to be fully guaranteed. Nevertheless, the excitement around the signature is completely justified, because Everton has a recognized creative outlet and they offer the Grealish platform to do what he does best.
