Birmingham City striker Kyogo Furuhashi is the subject of interest from Swansea City in the final week of the competition, according to Swansea City. Walesonline.

Birmingham City have shown no signs of slowing down during the winter transfer window. Despite having a squad that many believe can improve on their disappointing position of 13th, BCFC continue to back Chris Davies with further additions.

Permanent deals have been made for it August Priske And Kai Wagnerwhile Jhon Solis and Ibrahim Osman are on loan. That level of activity is expected to lead to departures, and summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi is someone who could move on.

Furuhashi was linked with a move to Celtic, but now it is a Welsh side that are interested. Walesonline have claimed that Swansea City are interested in him.

However, they also claim that the player’s current wage demands are a major stumbling block for Swansea City. The Swans are looking to boost their attacking numbers to help top scorer Zan Vipotnik.

Things haven’t gone according to plan for Kyogo Furuhashi

Since leaving Celtic, things have not gone to plan for Furuhashi, and that trend continued during his time at Birmingham City. The forward has struggled to make an impact since his arrival, with limited returns despite making a number of appearances.

His lack of form has seen him drop down the pecking order at St Andrew’s, often as a substitute behind Marvin Ducksch. The German has established himself as the first-choice striker, with Jay Stansfield also preferred in attacking roles.

A move to Blues seemed ideal for the Japanese striker after his bad spell in France. He and Chris Davies knew each other well after their time together at Celtic, but so far it simply hasn’t paid off.

If a deal cannot be struck with Swansea City, Furuhashi will have to take advantage of the opportunities. Strong substitution performances could be crucial if he wants to force his way back into the battle for a starting spot.

There are more exits to come for Birmingham City

Furuhashi would be the latest of many BCFC players to move on this month. Birmingham City’s list of newcomers is the result of the departure of many fringe players.

Dion Sanderson’s loan spell at Derby County was made permanent, while Emil Hansson’s spell at Blackpool was cut short to allow a return to the Netherlands with Excelsior.

Keshi Anderson was released and has since signed for Portsmouth. While Lyndon Dykes has also left, he joins fellow Championship team Charlton Athletic under Nathan Jones.

Marc Leonard has been given permission to leave the club and join Hearts. More departures could follow as BCFC look to reshape and strengthen their squad.
