The building is described as ‘beyond repair’.
A Queensland house on the market is so damaged that buyers can’t inspect the inside, but that hasn’t stopped strong interest in the block.
The property, in the town of Ipswich west of Brisbane, is described as “beyond repair” and will be sold as a “knockdown opportunity”.
28 Russell Street, Silkstone is for sale.
The property is a block of 809 m².
Agent Hayley Picker of NGU Real Estate – Ipswich is marketing the 809 sq m property at 28 Russell St, Silkstone and said she had it under contract within three days.
“I have been inundated with calls about this property,” said Ms. Picker, who declined to disclose the sale price.
“There have been eight written offers without anyone even looking at them and I even had to cancel the first open house.”
She said the buyer planned to build a duplex on the block.
“Everyone wanted to do the exact same thing,” she said.
“Yes, the house needs to be demolished, but buyers see the potential and most wanted to build a duplex.”

Mrs Picker said there was no other option but to demolish the house.
“Unfortunately it is infested with termites and has had water damage,” she said.
“Overthrow is absolutely the best way forward.
“Unfortunately, my salespeople live there.”

The listing described the property as a one-bedroom, one-bathroom home that was beyond repair.
“Do you want to start all over again,” the listing says.
“Due to the extent of the damage, internal access will not be permitted for safety and liability reasons.
“The property is priced based on land value only and offers a generous 809 sqm block in the ever-popular Silkstone location.”
There is a caravan and a modular building on the site.
Other features on site include a large electric shed and double carport, while the sale will see an electric modular building and caravan remain on site.
“An ideal opportunity for builders, developers or buyers looking to create something new in a cramped suburb,” the listing said.
PropTrack data shows the median home price in Silkstone is $727,500, an increase of 15.5 percent over a twelve-month period.
Silkstone is described as a sleek, established suburb close to Ipswich’s CBD.
“The area is known for its leafy streets and strong sense of community and offers a mix of character homes and modern buildings, reflecting continued growth and renewal,” the listing said.
“Thanks to its proximity to key amenities, family-friendly atmosphere and consistent demand, Silkstone remains one of Ipswich’s most popular and reliable suburbs when it comes to long-term value.”
