This area is home to many top golf courses and Park City is not far from Salt Lake City, meaning there is a nearby international airport as a landing point.

In this list of the best golf courses in Utah, we haven’t allowed the area to completely dominate and have made sure to represent some other destinations in the state.

1. Promontory Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course

The best course in Utah is in Park City in the form of the Promontory Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course.

The course is named after the architect of the course and is relatively new. The track opened in 2002. It is a par-72 course with a length of 7,690 meters.

Close to Lewis Peak, the distant landscape of the Utah mountains provides a beautiful backdrop.

With six different tees to drive from, it seems all skill levels find what they need at this venue and the praise has followed suit.

This gem of a course has received numerous compliments and awards over the years, including ‘Golf Development of the Year’.

2. Glenwild Golf Club & Spa

The Glenwild Golf Club & Spa Private Golf Course, one of the most exclusive golf courses in Utah, is among a contingent of impressive golf courses near Park City, Utah.

This course is the creation of Tom Fazio, the leading architect designed it for its opening date in 2001.

The course is a short-distance, par-71 test measuring 7,564 yards.

Silver Summit is part of the nearby landscape, as are many other awe-inspiring mountains. On the course there is water with both a creek and lakes.

Considered by some to be a difficult course, all skill levels enjoyed Fazio’s creation in a location that is accessible as it is not far from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

3. Victory Ranch Golf Club

The golf course of Victory Ranch Golf Cluba par-72 test measuring 7,599 yards, is our top-rated course not located near Park City.

This Kamas course opened in 2009 and was designed by Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead.

Victory Ranch is a mountain link-style experience, located close to the Provo River and Wasatch Mountain State Park and offering beautiful views.

Golfers fortunate enough to play this course can expect frequent elevation changes. In addition, fescue lines many of the long fairways.

The opening hole of the course is a great introduction that invites a downhill drive to start the round in style.

4. Promontory Painted Valley Golf Course

Back in the golf mecca known as Park City, we find our fourth pick for the state: the Jack Nicklaus-designed Promontory Painted Valley Golf Course.

The course only opened in 2007, but has been successful for this prime location for ten years or more.

Certainly the course architect had no problem breaking convention as Nicklaus designed one of enormous length with 8,098 yards to survive.

You almost never see courses this long, even at the championship level, so those looking for the ultimate test should consider this Park City course.

Visitors to the club undoubtedly enjoyed the impressive scenery that comes with one of Utah’s most exclusive areas.

5. Sand Hollow Resort (championship course)

The Sand Hollow Resort has three golf courses, the most prominent of which is the Championship Course, designed by John Fought and Andy Staples.

Located near Hurricane, the course opened in 2008 and is currently a par-72 course with an average length of 7,300 yards.

A golf course that is part of a holiday destination. You’ll find Sand Hollow Resort in southwestern Utah, near the small town of St. George.

There is a slight difference between this course and the other courses on this list. The setting for the Championship Course is more of a desert environment than a mountainous and lush environment with wide fairways and red sand bunkers.

As a holiday destination, you can also expect water skiing, kayaking, hiking and rock climbing in the area.
