Amazon has made a foray into the golf ball section by launching the in-house Amazon Basics Core Soft Golf Ball as an affordable and budget option.
The world’s largest online retailer sells millions of golf balls every month to customers around the world and now has its own model under the Amazon Basics brand.
Released in October 2025, the new ball is positioned as an affordable, beginner-friendly option aimed at casual and high-handicap players looking for soft feel and solid distance without the premium prices of tour-level models.
The Core Soft balls feature the well-known Amazon sign logo, have a low compression that suits many golfers and offer good distance with control on the green.
Advantages and disadvantages
Amazon Soft Core Basics Golf Balls Design and Features
Amazon’s Core Soft is a new addition to the market in the cheap golf balls sector and will become a real disruptor for other brands with similar budget options.
The ball is suitable for all skill levels and is mainly aimed at beginners, casual golfers and high handicappers who do not want to spend a lot of money but want solid and reliable performance.
The balls are made by SM Global, the same company that produces them Costco’s Kirkland Signature models, and the Soft Core has a simple two-piece design with a low-compression core and an ionomer cover.
Forgiveness, durability and a soft feel rather than tour-level spin properties is what the Amazon Basics golf ball offers.
Expect maximum carry distance and reduced sidespin that causes hooks or slices, as well as slightly increased greenside spin for better feel on chips and putts.
Its low compression core makes it best suited for golfers with moderate to slow swing speedsGolfers with faster swings may find the ball too soft and lose some control or distance efficiency.

The ball also features 338 aerodynamic dimples for a stable yet high launch trajectory, even in light winds, and to help maintain distance.
There are also alignment aids on the side of the Soft Core Basics ball to assist with accurate putting. They are sold in white or yellow variants.
Amazon Basics Core Soft Golf Balls Review: Are They Any Good?
It’s been a long time coming, but Amazon is here with a golf ball that aims to disrupt the value end of the golf ball market.
At just $1.20 per ball or just over $1 per ball in the 24 pack the Core Soft is about to do just that and there are many positives in terms of performance and not just cost.

The low-compression design helps generate longer carry distances for slower swing speeds while maintaining a soft face feel.
The ionomer cover provides moderate spin control, especially around the green, although performance does not match that of premium urethane-covered balls such as the Titleist Pro V1.
That said, you’re paying a fraction of the cost of the likes of the Pro V1 and its solid durability, soft feel at advanced spin or tour precision and ranges of distance possible make it a strong, low-cost alternative for golfers.
