Beijing Tennis Preview, Pick and Prediction: the Minaur vs. Mentally

Alex de Minaur and Jakub Mensik go against each other for the fourth time in their career when they collide in the quarter -finals of the China open on Monday.

The Minaur has won all three of their earlier meetings (all three on indoor courts), including at De Laver Cup earlier this month via a 6-3, 6-4 decision. The Aussie has six consecutive sets against Mensik, all at all, not closer than 6-4-in place of their first in a tie-scratcher last fall in Vienna.

Thanks to the piece of the 2025 campaign, the Minaur is in fantastic form to qualify for the Nitto ATP final. The World No. 8 is eighth in the Race to Turin And has a relatively comfortable lead over all its closest challengers. He has continued his great form with victories in Beijing on Bu Yunchaokete and Arthur Rinder Knech-De Last in a third set of Tiebreker.

Mensik is in distant Nitto ATP Finals, mainly thanks to a surprising Masters 1000 title in Miami. The 19th Rangt Czech has cooled a bit since then, but he will be recovering this fall with Davis Cup Heroics against the United States and wins in Beijing about Miomir Kecmanovic and Arthur Cazaux.

The court speed at this tournament is slow. Although the Minaur also likes to play on faster surfaces, Slow is probably worse news for Mensik – who strives to quickly end up points in this matchup instead of making extensive rallies. Expect the dominance of the Minaur.

Pick: by Minaur in 2
