Thomas Tuchel has issued a strong warning to Jude Bellingham after the player’s frustrated reaction to his substitution. In particular, the manager emphasized that “behavior is key” and that players must respect the team’s standards.
The England star was visibly unhappy when Tuchel withdrew him during the second half of the win over Albania. Tuchel later even confirmed that he saw the player ‘waving his arms’. This action led to a clear and immediate response after the match from the manager.
“My words remain: it is about standards, level and commitment to each other and respect for each other,” said Tuchel.

Tuchel stood firm in his decision and warned that such displays would not influence his management: “We will not change our decision just because someone waves their arms.”
The England boss explained the substitution. He confirmed it was a tactical move motivated by two factors. First, he wanted to rotate the squad. Secondly, Bellingham already had a yellow card.
Notably, Bellingham had just regained its starting spot for this match. He was selected ahead of Morgan Rogers. This was important because Rogers had impressed everyone while Bellingham was injured. Tuchel even preferred him during that period.
Therefore, Tuchel used this particular selection dilemma to make a broader point. He noted that Bellingham, who was substituted, was not the only player disappointed. This implied that Rogers was also disappointed at losing his spot in the top spot.
“Yes, he didn’t like it, but no one likes it,” Tuchel said. “He has to accept it, he has to accept it. We shouldn’t make more of it than it is. “He runs back and helps us keep a clean sheet. The work ethic and attitude are just excellent,” Tuchel said. “He is a leader and that speaks for itself.”
The brief flashpoint with Bellingham did not overshadow the manager’s general pride in the performance against Albania, which produced another positive result for England. Tuchel praised the depth of his ‘high quality bench’ and only regretted that he would have to wait until March before he could work with the group again.
