Before the traditional weekend trip with our friends there are many possible alternatives on the agenda. Among other things, it is talked about Franrike, London and Norway, but in the end the choice falls on the high coast. Last weekend in October it is time to get into the car after work and move north. 100 miles, an overnight stay and lots of fun moments later we are back in Stockholm.

To prevent us from driving too far on Friday, we stop in Sundsvall for overnight stay and hotel breakfast at Elite Hotel Knaust. From there it takes about an hour to drive to the High Coast Bridge, which will be the first and last stop of today on this successful outing. The famous bridge offers two completely different experiences for one day – embedded in the morning by a thick vague ride and illuminated in the evening by a colorful sunset.
The weather can of course be a bit difficult this year, but we succeed in getting the highest profit home. The High Coast meets us with mysterious morning mist followed by brilliant sun and perfect October before the dark sneaks slowly. Here a message is full of High Coast Romantics in the fall package! Several of the tips below that I found with the residents of the High Coast and the contractors Jerry And Emelie Engström That is a constant source of inspiration for travel far away and close. The couple also drives Outdoor Village at the foot of Skuleberget As I have lifted here on the blog earlier.
The message contains advertising links (Adlinks) that can give me a small committee if you choose to book accommodation for tips from me.
Autumn On The High Coast: Tips about things to see and do for a memorable journey
#1. High coast bridge embedded in morning mist
Maybe I should stop parallels for everything, but that is Difficult not to think about Golden Gate in San Francisco as this beautiful creative tower about the Ångermansälven. We reach the High Coast Bridge just before the 11th and barely see the car in the name of honesty while we are missing directly in a milk white. After driving over the bridge …

… we go out to park in the North Brofästet and Hornöberget where there is a vantage point / large parking lot. Here we get a completely different picture of both bridge and fog. Hornöberget (which is also the home of the Hotel High Coast) appears to be one of the start/stop points for the 14-Mile High Coast trail that extends between Hornöberget and Örnsköldsvik. We see different walkers who park the car here and then mopping part of the path.
Read more About walking the High Coast Trail at the Swedish tourist association.

Instead, we strive for the tourist road “High Coast Södra” and we enjoy in full characteristics of nature that templates in all its splendor outside the car window.

Forest and fog as far as the eye can reach, these boats are good for the rest of the day!
#2. Nordingrå Church

One of our first stops after the bridge becomes the Nordingrå -KerkA large and pompous church building in a perfect location on the northern beach of Lake Vågsfjärden.

The church was completed in 1825 and replaced a medieval church that was previously in about the same place. There is a respectful calm about the place dressed in colorful autumn clothing at this time of the year.

In the church area there are a number of red -bilded church stables, where the church visitors rested their horses many years ago while visiting the service themselves. Visitors came up close and furthest and some parking space was not even meant.

Don’t miss everything in the world to take a walk in the area when you have passed the roads. I really imagine that I go here somewhere in the future to a Lucia/Christmas concert.
You can read more here or Nordingrå church and current events.
#3. Stortorget Views site in Nordingrå
The most important square in Nordingrå is as far away as you can get the equivalents in larger cities such as Stockholm, Warsaw and Berlin. This is something rather Other …

… a perfect ad image for Sweden if you want. Do you think you recognize the place, even if you have not been there yet? Perhaps not so strange because this display is used as a break on television.

The vantage point is 135 meters above sea level and requires a steep, but not very long, walking from the memory of humans (more about that place below).

From the top we see mountains, forests, sea and the small village spread like a painting among us.

Later in the day our friends click in Hemnet to look for houses for sale in Nordingrå, it can still be considered a reasonably good assessment at our stop in this part of the country.
#4. Mannaminne in Nordingrå
For the first time I heard sharks “mindminne” is mentioned as a name in a real place and not just as a rewriting of time. For example, I have dubbed the neighbor’s body cakes “The tastiest in the memory of men”. But the memory of men in Nordingrå is therefore also a physical place …

… and really nothing. This outdoor and cultural village has grown since 1980 under the leadership of the couple Anders and Barbro Åberg.

The goal is neatly handwritten on a plate at the entrance:
The purpose of the memory is to show how “everything” is connected. The culture depends on history, technology and influences up close and far.

Steping in this area is as directly in a kind of surreal fairy book where it is hardly possible to distinguish the story of reality. The somewhat tired Mammoet, for example, reminds me instinctively of the cartoonist Jan Lööf and his illustrations.
Read more or Mannaminne on the website (Open with various events until September).
# 5. Rotta
After a pizza in Vallen Pizzeria in Nordingrå (it does not end directly from lunch options to the area at this time of the year) we go to the coast to view the Rotsidan Nature Reserve. I have heard several praise over the beautiful coastline and the stone stoves that have become lean due to waves and wind.

The coastal trace of four kilometers is covered with rocky pits, sea and coniferous forest. I like the welcome with the hand -painted boulder. In fact, everything in this place feels good -organized generally. We are met by information boards and toilets …

… as well as explosions that facilitate accessibility for all kinds of visitors. There is also a neat barbecue area where a company is standing and grills is struggling – otherwise we hardly need this October day.

We walk around the rocky access and can see that we have chosen an unusually beautiful autumn day to visit the root side. I imagine that the autumn storms are not merciful here!

I would have liked to walk in the area and the fact is that the Rotidan is part of the World Heritage Trail of Tien -Mijl here that passes here.

#6. Archipel -feeling in Bönhamn
Bönhamn has been on my wish list for a while, not least after seeing various updates with midnight sun from the site. There is no such thing to see this October day …

… but it doesn’t matter when the view that me me looks like. The autumn uniform is simply a very successful background for the red boats that characterize the old fishing village of Bönhamn.

The name Bönhamn would come from the expression “Bay’s boat”So to seal it.

During the summer months, boats from Bönhamn leave for the island, as well as the Highbond Högbonds where there is also a hostel. If there is not yet a trip on your bucket list while traveling in Sweden, it’s time to update it.

#7. Sunset and evening coffee in Hotel High Coast Restaurant on Hornöberget
A few hours later we are back where we started our outing (Sat) day …

… at the High Coast Bridge and Hornöberget. This time without the mysterious fog, which instead has been replaced by a bucket of gold colored Golden Glitter that seems to be cast over both the bridge and the Ångermansälven.

We decide a coffee Hotel High Coast Restaurant (Adlink) It lies with a golden position with a view of the bridge.

I could probably have stopped forever and always admire these views. The High Coast has something, is Something that can’t be experienced anywhere else than here. As a separate created by the archipelago, forest, mountains, sea and a warm ball of magic.
#8. So we lived during our trip to the High Coast

We start from Stockholm and Maintenance on an evening in Sundsvall (Adlink) Before we continue to the High Coast. Everything in the company is very satisfied with the decision to spend the night at Hotel Knaust, read more here: Elite Hotel Knaust Sundsvall: a hotel review.
Tips! I have heard relatively good testimonials New Open Hotel Hernö Gin Hotel (Adlink) Located in Härnösand, about a 20-25 minute drive from the High Coast Bridge.
