Australia Playing XI vs India – 2nd ODI, India Tour of Australia 2025:

Openers: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head

Kangaroos are keen to register back-to-back wins in the ongoing ODI series against India and take an unassailable lead in the three-match series when the two teams face off in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval.

The captain and team management are said to be impressed by the professional manner in which the Aussies handled the opening match.

The home side would like to repeat the same feat in the upcoming match, but for a much longer duration.

Aussies would open the batting with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, both of whom are known to play an attacking brand of cricket at the top order and would be looking to do the same in the next match.

That said, Travis Head was dismissed trying to play attacking in the first ODI, so it would be interesting to see if he continues to play the same way in Adelaide.

Head’s opening partner and Australian captain, Mitchell Marsh, played a sensible knock in the previous match after the team lost a couple of wickets early in the chase for a sub-par total, and would want to keep up the good work.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Matthew Short, Josh Philippe (wk), Matthew Renshaw, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen

The opening duo will be followed by a new-look middle order following the retirement of some senior players.

Despite being relatively inexperienced, the middle order did a fine job with the likes of Josh Philippe and Matt Renshaw, ensuring the defending ODI World Cup winners did not collapse.

As well as Philippe and Renshaw, the team also hoped that Owen and Connolly would get some time in the middle.

However, it is the responsibility of the top five hitters to score the majority of the runs.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Hazlewood

The hosts are said to be delighted with their bowling performance in the first ODI and would like to see the bowlers do more of the same in the second game of the three-match series.

As he does on most occasions, Starc will take the new ball to Australia and will team up with Josh Hazlewood, who has been in good form in the recent past and would like to take that into the next match.

Starc and Hazlewood will be joined by Nathan Ellis and fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who will play a crucial role for Australia batting at number six or seven, along with a few overs as needed.

If we talk about the spin bowling department, then it is handled by Matthew Kuhnemann, who earned a lot of credit for his bowling at the end of the innings in the last match.
