Audi will soon be introducing a new sports car. It is not a successor to the TT or R8, but something completely different on the basis of the new concept C. Although it will be electric, the new sports car is said to have the software needed to make you think that you manage a vehicle with gasoline, things like simulated gearboxes and fake motor sounds.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner told Top gear That the company discovered that “a virtual gearbox and sound really add something to driving an electric car.” Döllner noted that he is “faster on a race track with a car with a virtual gearbox.”
Expleasing each piece of performance from a vehicle around the track requires clear communication between the driver and the car. EVs miss a lot of the visceral physical signals that our body can feel while driving, and these fake sounds and shifts bring back those telling markers.
“We develop it, I think we have one,” Döllner told the publication. “The company is fairly open to finding innovative solutions in this area.” And Audi can breathe new life into the five -cylinder engine noise. Software enables Audi to add every engine noise to its future EV, and we hope that the five -cylinder is one of them.

The production car that comes from the concept “is almost precisely” between the TT and R8, Döllner said. He did not respond to what they meant, but it probably means that the new sports car will bridge the gap between the two sports cars in Audi in terms of performance and price.
The TT RS bowed out a few years ago and made 400 hp from his five -cylinder engine. The R8 had a V-10 with more than 600 hp, and the new sports car will supposedly split that difference.
Döllner added that the car would not bear the TT name. He suggested that Audi could give it a real name or something that starts “with a R.” Concept C is not the most inspiring name, but the boss of Audi admitted that “sometimes it is easier to develop a car than to find a name for it.”
Adding paaks to electric vehicles is not new. Lexus launched his first EV with fake gear shifts. Porsche can go even further and add simulated gears and art engine sounds. Ferrari even submitted a patent for a virtual motor and gear system for the car.
Even the upcoming electric M3 has a simulated exhaust nut and Kia has added fake wheels to the EV6 GT. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N apparently perfected.

However, not every car manufacturer has embraced artificiality. Dodge’s new Charger Daytona EV may have a fake sound, but it is missing a simulated gearbox.
It is actually Skeuomorphism for cars. Sceuomorphism, more recently, is the trend where a digital thing retains the familiar look, feeling and use of its real counterpart, such as how the camera app on your smartphone still has a shutter sound. False gear shifts and engine noise serve the same goal, making EVs feel familiar to people who have driven cars only driven by gasoline.
