Adam Silver said that he “brings out the big guns” to examine the clippers and Kawhi Leonard for potential detours, but added the burden to the competition to find hard evidence before he explains punishment.
The Commissioner confirmed on Wednesday that the NBA hired a law firm in New York to look at the explosive accusations against Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, who was accused of a media report of seducing Leonard to sign an out-of-show no-show with a shadow-rich company.
In the past, Silver stated that such a roof of Cap -Omsilen was ‘a cardinal sin’. He added on Wednesday that he has broad powers to levy fines, suspend the staff and strip pulling away if the clippers are found guilty. Silver, however, warned that it would be unfair to assume, and the competition needs more than indirect evidence.
“I would be reluctant to act if there was only an appearance of inappropriate. I think the purpose of a full investigation is to discover if there was really inappropriate,” Silver said. “Because the audience also comes to an audience -oriented sport, the audience sometimes comes to conclusions that later turn out to be completely incorrect. I would like someone else who is in the situation, Mr. Ballmer is now, or Kawhi Leonard, to be treated in the same way as I would like to make accusations against me.”
The evidence seems pretty damn. According to paperwork and produced report discovered by Pablo Torre, Leonard signed an approval agreement of $ 28 million with aspiration, a company that Ballmer had as an investor, despite the fact that the player never endorses the company in any way.
The Toronto star then reported that the uncle of Leonard, Dennis Robertson, proposed that the Raptors facilitated no-show approval in 2019 in 2019 in exchange for Leonard who signed again at Toronto. The Raptors fell, according to the Toronto star, and Leonard signed instead of the clippers.
Ballmer, the richest owner in the NBA, acknowledged that he introduced Leonard to aspiration, but denied fiercely bypassing the salary hood.
“Every opposite statement is demonstrably incorrect: the team ended his relationship with Aspiration years ago, during the 2022-23 season, when aspiration failed his obligations,” the clippers said in a statement. “Neither the clippers nor Mr Ballmer were aware of any incorrect activity by Aspiration or her co-founder until after the government had launched its research. The team and Mr. Ballmer are ready to help law enforcement in any way they can.”
Aspiration was accused of fraud by the Ministry of Justice. The company submitted bankruptcy in March.
