RACER understands that Aston Martin has entered into an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) with the FIA over a procedural breach over the 2024 entry, while the teams await their final certificates.
The last two cost limit reviews were completed in September 2023 and 2024, leading to speculation that there could be discrepancies in the latest entries as the FIA has not yet issued any certificates this year. It is understood that one aspect of the delay may be related to Aston Martin, with the team forced to submit its accounts without the accountant’s signature due to extenuating circumstances, with the final signed accounts received after the deadline.
RACER understands that the FIA was aware of the situation and supported Aston Martin’s position, but that officially this still constitutes a procedural breach and will be recognized in the ABA.
Suggestions that another team could have exceeded the cost limit last year have so far been unsubstantiated, with the FIA also refusing to comment on the individual entries.
“The FIA’s Cost Cap Administration is finalizing the assessment of 2024 entries from teams and power unit manufacturers, the outcome of which is expected to be communicated shortly,” an FIA spokesperson told RACER. “The FIA does not comment on individual entries from specific teams and/or power unit manufacturers and, as per established practice, the results of the assessment will be made public once the assessment of all entries has been completed and finalized.”
No final results are expected to be reached during the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend, with sources indicating the process is aiming for completion by the next round in Brazil.
