Pakistan rushed into the Super Four phase of the Asia Cup 2025 on Wednesday with an impressive 41-run victory over the VAE in Dubai on Wednesday. The counterattack of Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan a fight total before Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed demolished the hosts of the hosts.
Siddique, Simranjeet Singh Limited Pakistan to 146
Pakistan became rattle early when Saim Ayub fell for a duck, his third in a row, from Junaid Siddique in the very first. Siddique then rejected Sahibzada Farhan cheaply, making Pakistan difficult to struggle on 5-2. Shaheen Afridi struck early in the chase and removed opener Alishan Sharafu for 12. Spinners Abrar Ahmed (2-13) and Saim Ayub also broke in when the VAE stumbled to 37-3 in the PowerPlay.
Rahul Chopra’s Fighting 35 and Dhruv Parashar’s 20 gave the VAE hope with a 48-run stand, but Agha Salman and Haris Rauf (2-19) broke through at the right time.
Shaheen returned to pick up another wicket, while Abrar paved the tail. Vae folded for only 105 in 17.4 and gave Pakistan a 41-run victory and a place in the Super Four.
