Pakistan started their Asia Cup 2025 trip in style with a crushing 93-run victory over Oman in Dubai on Friday. Mohammad Haris was at the forefront with the bat, while the bowlers hunted in pairs to give the defensive champions an easy victory.
Haris authorized Pakistan to 160
Pakistan chose to hit first and lost more Saim Ayub for a golden duck, but Sahibzada Farhan and Haris were fixed with an 85-run stand. Farhan made 29, while Haris the Oman attack dominated with a smooth 66 from 43 balls, who hit seven four and three sixes.
In the last overs, Oman’s Shah Faisal (3-34) and Aamir Kaleem (3-31) withdrew things with quick strikes, but Fakhar Zaman (23* from 16) and Mohammad Nawaz (19 OFF 10) ensured that Pakistan placed a strong 160 for 7 in 20 overs.
Bowlers tearing by Oman
Oman chased 161 and collapsed under the pressure of Pakistan’s bowling attack. Saim Ayub made up for his impact failure by firing both openers early and ended with 2 to 8. Hammad Mirza fought with 27 runs, but wickets kept tumbling from the other end.
Spinners Sufiyan Muqeem (2-7) and Nawaz (1-13) bonded Oman, while Faheem Ashraf threw together with 2 with 2 for 6. Shaheen Afridi when removing Shah Faisal.
The last couple added 16 runs, but Oman was bent for only 67 in 16.4 overs and gave Pakistan a huge victory to start their campaign. Pakistan will now look to bring this momentum forward in their next group stage collision, while Oman will hope to regroup himself after a heavy defeat.
