Experienced Indian Slagman Ajinkya Rahane pointed out that T20i skipper Suryakumar Yadav Earlier this year did not have a memorable series with the bat against England. The latter only succeeded 28 runs from five innings against a success rate of 116.66. The former Indian test captain, however, mentioned the glorious comeback of Suryakumar during the subsequent Indian Premier League (IPL), where he became the first batter who registered 25-plus scores in 16 consecutive innings in the history of the tournament.
Suryakumar finished as the second highest run-getter in IPL 2025, with 717 runs with an average of 65.18 and a success rate of 167.91. Rahane described Suryakumar as a dangerous batter, but said it will be interesting to see how he continues his business after a sports hernia operation in June.
“Had not a good series against England, but came back in IPL with five 1950s and ended as the second highest run scorer in the tournament with a healthy stroke frequency. We all know that Surya is a dangerous batter. In this format he has done really well. But it will be interesting to see how he said his Bataal,” especially after the operation.

Rahane praised Suryakumar for his captain and said he was proactive with his decision -making. The former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders also said that the version of Suryakumar with the bat will be crucial for the men in blue during the Asia Cup.
“As a leader he has been fantastic. He is a proactive leader, led the team very well in the past, but I feel that his batting in this Asia cup will be really important,” he added.
India is in group A in the Asia Cup. The title defender starts their campaign on Wednesday 10 September against the VAE in Dubai. Pakistan and Oman are the other two teams in this group. In the meantime, Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Bangladesh.
