104 Alexandra Rd, Ascot sold in a $9.8 million deal.
Brisbane couple Helen and Andrew McKie have sold their beloved home of 15 years for $9.8 million after it was on the market just five days ago.
The property, at 104 Alexandra Rd, Ascot, broke a street record and was built in 1936 as part of a grand estate that has since been subdivided.
Ray White Ascot agent Nick Roche, who sold it to a local buyer who is enlarging, described the property as a “rare Brisbane treasure”.
“It’s a really spectacular house and there’s plenty to love. It’s one of the most remarkable houses, not just in Ascot, but in the whole of Brisbane,” Mr Roche said.
Mrs McKie said when she started looking for a new home, she was looking for something with ‘real character’.
“We wanted landscaped gardens and a lifestyle property that wasn’t necessarily from Queensland,” Ms McKie said.
“This property is unique with an exceptional street presence and offers everything we were looking for and more.”

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom house, on a 1,275 sqm block, has several notable features, including underground parking for four vehicles, a 25-metre swimming pool, a pool house, a large underground cellar and a cold room.
Mrs McKie, a mother of two, said the upstairs bedrooms provided plenty of privacy for children or guests.
There is also a smart home automation system that allows remote management from anywhere, including underground water tanks for sustainable irrigation,” she said.
“The infrastructure is remarkable and everything is thoughtfully designed.”
Mrs McKie said the house was the ultimate entertainer’s paradise.
“We have hosted everything from intimate family gatherings to large-scale events here,” Ms McKie said.
“We are great entertainers.
“We’ve had formal school events, birthday parties and even pageants.”
Ms McKie said now that their two children were grown and out of the house, she was spending more time at their beachside property on the Sunshine Coast.
“The time has come to pass on this remarkable property,” she said.
“The beauty of this house is its versatility. We loved the property when our children were very young, through their teens and early twenties.
“One of my favorite features that I have enjoyed is complete privacy and convenience of living on one level with the private master suite and all entertainment areas on the main floor.
“The wellness potential is also incredible: there is room for a yoga studio, an art studio, a gym or a home office.”
Meanwhile, Mr Roche also sold 4 Langside Rd, Hamilton for $8 million to a local buyer.
He said the property had only been listed for five days.
