For that collision, Arteta said that Arsenal Dowman should manage carefully after his rise in the senior setup.
He said that Dowman comprises with a rough treatment by Arsenal’s experienced players, who wanted to kick the 15-year-old after being ashamed of his deception in the training.
“In the beginning they reacted immediately – kick him! That was the first. And Max, to be honest, he was excellent, got up and stepped in the next.” Arteta said.
“You can really take it personally, for someone who was 14 last year, at one point that he did certain things to players, and now everyone loves him. You just want to hug him, help him. He is also such a nice boy and he is very nice by everyone here and just caring for us.
“It brings responsibility to take care of someone with that talent and to ensure that we just do what we have to do to ensure that we get the best chance to exploit his talent, that’s all.”
