Myles Lewis-Skelly does not want to leave in the January transfer window, according to Arsenal Fabrizio Romano.
There are reports that Chelsea are interested in Lewis-Skelly, but according to well-known and respected Italian journalist Romano, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is convinced the left-back will not leave.
Romano said of Lewis-Skelly on his YouTube channel: “My information, guys, is that Arsenal, and with maximum respect to all colleagues who have their own information, but my information is that Arsenal are not considering an exit for Myles Lewis-Skelly at this stage.
“Arsenal sees Myles Lewis-Skelly as an absolutely important and crucial player.
“Of course there is also Riccardo Calafiori in that position, but Calafiori has also had some injuries in recent years and so Arsenal do not want to run any risk of players dropping out and ending up in an emergency situation in the second half of the season, in these types of seasons, a crucial season for Arsenal.
“They want to win titles, they need to win titles, they can win titles and let a crucial, important player like Myles Lewis-Skelly leave in the January transfer window, despite reports of club interest in a loan.
“Guys, I think it’s absolutely obvious that there is interest from a number of clubs in Myles Lewis-Skelly.
“He is one of the best youngsters in the world, so it is completely normal and obvious to get these kinds of messages, but in terms of reality, in terms of possibilities for the boy to leave the club in the January transfer window, let me say that I am not aware of that.
“I have been told that Arsenal, and when I say Arsenal it is the directors, the coaching staff and the coach Mikel Arteta, they all want Myles Lewis-Skelly to stay and be part of their project.”
