Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have invested heavily in rebuilding their attacking departments this summer, but with their latest signings producing mixed and inconsistent results on the pitch, further reinforcements could be on the way.
TEAMtalk reported that the Premier League trio are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, who had a brilliant campaign with the Bundesliga giants last year and has picked up where he left off this time.
With seven goals and four assists in all competitions, the Guinean international is one of the world’s most underrated strikers with a lethal presence in the penalty area, aided by a solid physical frame and the ability to bully defenders in aerial or ground duels.
Liverpool are unlikely to race for Guehi
Liverpool invested more than £200 million in Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike this summer, and while they may need a replacement for Mohamed Salah next summer, a real striker is unlikely to be their priority.
However, the signing of Serhou Guirassy could be a battle between Arsenal and Manchester United, with both clubs likely to value his experience and technical skills as a contrast to the young blood they have signed in recent times.
Joshua Zirkzee’s future departure from United will leave them in need of a striker, much like the Gunners would be if Gabriel Jesus were to leave, and Guirassy, who turns 30 in March next year, could well challenge in the Premier League in his prime.
That’s him valued at £40 million on Transfermarktbut the forward is believed to have a release clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund, the amount of which is not yet known, although the Bundesliga ace is expected to consider his future in the summer.
Guirassy is an important player for Borussia Dortmund, so they will likely refer any interested party to his release clause, but it remains to be seen how much Arsenal and Man United are willing to spend on a player who will likely start as a secondary option for them.
