A wrestling match between Arman Tsarukyan and Tom Hardy was loosely discussed, with the former commenting on how close that came. The rising UFC lightweight prospect recently discussed this with Helen Yee Sports around the time of his recent effort at Real American Freestyle when Tsarukyan defeated Lance Palmer via tech fall at RAF 05 by a score of 10-0.
Tsaruykan has been active on the submission wrestling circuit lately and has also fought under the Hype Fighting banner against the likes of UFC middleweight Shara Bullet. Last December, Hardy was made an offer to sign Tsarukyan under the Hype banner, but complications regarding the Hollywood star’s schedule got in the way. Tsarukyan gave his side of why this intriguing confrontation with Hardy never happened, saying:
“Yes, I got that offer, but he [Tom Hardy] couldn’t come because he was filming something. I don’t know, he’s filming, he’s busy. So it didn’t happen, but maybe in the future – why not? I am for everyone, for big names.”
Arman Tsarukyan calls out former UFC title challenger for wrestling match
Arman Tsarukyan has been actively plying his trade as a wrestler and lately seems to want to maintain his momentum by taking on another UFC-contracted fighter who is simultaneously competing for the RAF. This competitor being referenced is Michael Chandler, who recently put Tsarukyan in his crosshairs after his aforementioned win against Palmer this weekend.
Tsarukyan called Chandler some RAF calls and mentioned his excitement to wrestle the former multi-time Bellator MMA champion. Arman Tsarukyan also mentioned Chandler’s wrestling-specific pedigree, while the former referred to his foundation as that of an MMA fighter who happens to pursue a lot of wrestling-oriented opportunities.
Tsarukyan underlined the callout, saying that Chandler wouldn’t have a chance against him in MMA, so perhaps a match under the RAF banner would suit Chandler better considering Tsarukyan’s nonsense. Tsarukyan has introduced some more potential options [viaMMA Junkie],
I would also like to wrestle Kyle Dake. It’s good for me because he’s world champion, [bronze] Olympic [medalist]. He’s a real name. Next, I would like to have an MMA fighter, who has a background in wrestling, get more experience and then wrestle the real wrestlers because we are still not at the same level. You can’t compare an MMA fighter to a freestyle wrestler.”
