Holloway and Oliveira will collide on March 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “Blessed” will put his BMF championship on the line. This will actually be a rematch as Holloway and Oliveira had a fight in 2015 that ended prematurely due to injury.
MMA DropZone captured footage from a video posted to Tsarukyan’s Telegram account. In the clip, “Ahalkalakets” revealed that he is leaning towards Oliveira to get the win over Holloway (via MMA Junkie).
“Oliveira sometimes fights so bad, but sometimes he is unreal,” Tsarukyan said. “You never know with him, but I’m still leaning towards Oliveira winning.”
Tsarukyan then expressed interest in a rematch against Oliveira. He wants to show MMA fans that he is undoubtedly the better lightweight by securing a finish if another fight with the Brazilian legend takes place.
“I hope Oliveira wins,” Tsarukyan said. “We have a history. We can rematch. People say I won by split decision. I think I won convincingly. I won all the rounds. I have to finish him and show people that my victory was not an accident. Even two years ago I was a level above him.”
Tsarukyan is waiting to see what awaits him after submitting Dan Hooker to UFC Qatar. While Tsarukyan is widely believed to deserve a lightweight title fight, he will have to wait until champion Ilia Topuria and interim titleholder Justin Gaethje have their inevitable unification fight.
Even then, there’s no telling how long the UFC brass will keep Tsarukyan out of the lightweight title.
