A year ago, Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic dropped out a victory when winning the Nitto ATP final. Now they get another chance to earn the season finale crown.
Arevalo and Pavic have qualified for the year championships and will appear their second consecutive Nitto ATP Finals.
Pavic played in the Nitto ATP Finals with four different partners: Oliver Marach, Bruno Soares, Nikola Mektic and Arevalo. The Croatian has added a 13-8 record to the event, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, but still continues its first title. In his last two performances, in 2022 with Mektic and last year with Arevalo, the Lefty made the championship match.
This is the first time that Arevalo has qualified twice for the event with the same partner. In addition to the Run from Salvadoran to the final last year with Pavic, he qualified in 2022 with Jean-Julien Rojer.
Arevalo and Pavic have proven a dominant power this season at ATP Masters 1000 events and lifting trophies in Indian Wells, Miami and Rome. The second placed team in the Pif ATP Live Doubles teams ranking only became the sixth team that wipe the ‘Sunshine Double’, and the first to perform the performance since Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in 2016.
Three teams have qualified for this year’s Nitto ATP final, where Arevalo and Pavic joined Wimbledon champions Julian Cash/Lloyd Glanollers/Horacio Zeballos, this year Roland Garros and US Open Titlists. The end-of-year championships take place in the Inalpi Arena from 9-16 November.
