Milton, September 20, 2025 – Apex, with Dexter Dunn in the racing bike, set up a show in the grade 1 Mohawk Million, Saturday night in Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The sixth edition of The Million Pende the deepest field that the race has ever seen and the two-year-old DRAFBattle did nothing to disappoint
Strobe Light, left of post eight, shot the wings and took early control over, followed by Dublin Hanover, Silverstein and 1-5 choice endurance, while Dunn navigated on a difficult journey of Post One, clung to the rail and established his load in the fifth on the way to the first turn.
A break in the corridor through stroboscope light opened the doors for Silverstein and then took a nose leader after an opening panel in: 27.4, but it was short -lived when endurance slid forward, with Dublin Hanover third and Apex nestled in the fourth.
Stample, on a profit racing with six races, the shots remained in a half: 57.0 calling, but Dunn and Apex, ranging on the outside, changed the heat on the paceter, which reached three quarters in 1: 24.4 with an advantage of a length.
APEX called on the pressure when the endurance hurt deep along the inside and looked to ward off the 5-2 second choice with the finish line that came closer. Apex finally pulled clearly when Dunn cast a quick look over his right shoulder to see if he had shutter to contend with. Seconds later he pumped his fist when he realized that there was no threat.
At the wire, Apex, trained by Marcus Melander, was a winner of 1 ½ length. The endurance was kept second, Silverstein finished third and Diabolic Hill finished fourth.

“There was a little action in that first turn, but he just treated like a real professional, and you know, we didn’t get back too far,” Dunn said. “He treated really well today.
“He was a bit excited there before, but now he is beautiful and relaxed. He also seems so intelligent. He knows his work, and he is only two. So I moved him beyond half there, and he traveled so strongly around the last turn. I just wanted to worry about it
Recently from 1: 51.4 was a bet, job and Canadian record. The previous bet standard for the Mohawk Million was 1: 52.3, established by Maryland in last year’s event for Melander.
“He did so easily in Hoosier last weekend,” said Melander, who also won the million in 2022 with Ahlo. “You know, he came out of the race well. But on Sunday I asked Dexter there in the Red Mile what his thoughts were, if he thought he had it in him to go for another week. And he said he did.”
Prior to the million, the highest profile score of Apex came in the $ 512,431 degree 1 Peter Haughton Memorial in Hoosier Park on 12 September, which also ensured an automatic entrance in the breeders Kroon. His other victories are the $ 312,500 New Jersey Sire Stakes final on 2 August and the $ 342,466 New Jersey Classic final on 5 September.
APEX, owned by Jeff Snyder, SRF Stable, and Steve Stewart, went the million thanks to the lock of Hunterton Farms.
Bred by Mission Letter Stable (Paris, KY) De Brown Colt, who made his Canadian debut in the million, was a purchase of $ 525,000 (USD) – HIP #82 – during the Harrisburg Yearling Sale in 2024.
“We always felt like he was extremely special, very intelligent and you can almost see it in his eye,” said Stewart.
Walner’s son from the Muscle Hill Mare Mission letter is now 6-1-1 of eight starts, with more than $ 1.1 million in wallet income.
APEX, a winner of his last four starts, paid $ 7.40 for the victory.
The sixth edition of the Mohawk Million generated an event record that uses all sources of $ 4,662,789, which exceeds the previous $ 3.9 million record in 2022.
