The half-final of the boys will contain two surprises, with non-seded matei Todoran of Romania and Michael Antonius of the United States who today guarantee an unwaved finalist after three set victories.
Todoran, 17, ended the Run of Tanishk Konduri, who had taken top seeds Oskari Paldanius from Finland on Wednesday, with a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-0 quarterfinals victory.
Antonius, who played Court for the first time at stage, dropped the first set in a tiebreaker, but used part of the advice of his USTA coach Sylvain Guichard to recover for a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-1 victory over no. 3 Seed Alan Wazny van Polen.
“He said a few things that really helped me,” said 15-year-old from Buffalo New York, who today had access to Guichard’s coaching because the tournament was used for the first time in the tournament. “He doesn’t say much and sometimes it’s more mental than tactical, but today he said,” Hurry not, he gets tired, keep the competition physically. ” And that is what I am pretty good in general.
Wazny, who has won the last two junior slam Doubles titles, has a great touch and could use his dropshots effectively, but once Antonius started to get more aggressive and deeper into the second set, Wazny had fewer opportunities to be creative.
“I started to return really well in the third set, deep and heavy, quality returns,” said Antonius. “Keeping him back, that really helped, because then he had to broke a bit and was unable to use his hands. That was something that Sylvain said:” He is trying to play fancy, you play boring. “
Antonius and Todoran did not play, with both looking for their first performance in a J300 final.
In the semi -final of the semi -final, double partners Ryo Tabata from Japan and Yannick Alexandrescou will take away from Romania in the morning before playing in the semi -final in the afternoon.

The semi-finals of the girls will contain three seeds and qualifying Kristina Liutova from Russia, which will continue her through the field with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over unguided Nancy Lee. Liutova, who has lost no more than three games in a set in her four victories, will be confronted with a 15-year-old in Xinran Sun of China, the ninth seed, which no. 4 Seed Beatina Zeltina of Latvia with 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

In the upper half, no. 3 seed lima vladson claimed her third consecutive three-set victory and defeated no. 6 seed yushan shao of China 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. She plays no. 5 Seed Anastasija Cvetkovic from Serbia, which defeated no. 14 Seed Kamonwan Yodpetch from Thailand 7-6 (8), 6-2.
Cvetkovic had achieved two routine victories on Tuesday and Wednesday, but she was pushed to the utmost in the first set of Yodpetch, who had defeated Top Zaad Luna Cinalli from Argentina on Wednesday. The start-stop-start-again interruptions as a result of the drizzle were also a challenge.
“We played 2-1 first set, then rain and then breaking,” said the 17-year-old, who is in the United States for the first time. “Then come back to the field and break again. It’s hard for my mind.”
Down 5-0, 6-2 and 7-6 In the first set of Tiebreaker, Cvetkovic fought back, so Yodpetch received nothing when he brought down five set points.
“The first set was great, incredible,” said Cvetkovic. “I said, be positive, I can do it, play every point, every ball, full focus. I didn’t miss a ball, so she has to do something and she missed some balls.”
Cvetkovic was less impressed by the level of tennis in the second set.
“Second set, we are both tired, so it wasn’t bad, but not like the first set,” said Cvetkovic. “I am proud of myself, after the heavy first set and everything.”
The seventeen-year-old Cvetkovic and Vladson both travel to the United States as members of the ITF Grand Slam Touring team, but did not know each other before and never played before.
