Minneapolis -For the first time in a week Anthony Volpe was back in the Yankees -Line -Up on Tuesday.
After four games when he was not available or limited because of a cortisone injection in his left shoulder, plus one on both ends when he was just sitting on the couch, Volpe returned to the line -up against the twins for a chance to prove that he can still be an impact player along the piece and in October.
“He is ready to go,” said Aaron Boone manager before Tuesday’s game in Target Field. “And also, Caballero is not a man who plays every day and I want to take that into account, because he is also a bit beaten up. I want to get Anthony in the mix again and hopefully give a spark today.”
Caballero took pregame grounders and batting exercise, so there was no indications that he had more to do with a little more than at the end of a long season.

But he had spent the last week at ShortStop, and was the first time he had started six consecutive days since May 2024.
In the meantime, Volpe hit .145 with a .454 Ops and 37 Strikeouts in 32 games for Tuesday.
The 14 matches before that with the first two weeks after he had the first cortisone injection in his shoulder about the All-Star break he .280 with a 1,035 Ops, so that the Yankees hope that he was able to be able to be able to return this time to be able to return a comparable bounce.
“I feel he is physically in a good place,” said Boone. “But having said that, I feel that it was the case most of the year. He just has to concentrate on what he is doing on the record and put himself in a position to make good swing decisions. Hopefully it will click for him immediately.”
