Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa returns to the Texas Rangers organization

RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa is officially back in the Texas Rangers organization. The Rangers’ transaction page shows the relief pitcher was signed to a minor league deal and then assigned to the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders. Although that may change when break camp schedules are announced.

Hoopii-Tuionetoa’s return marks his reunion with the club that originally drafted him in the 30th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Pierce College.

The right-hander was last with the Rangers organization in the spring of 2024 before being traded to the Chicago White Sox on May 8, 2024, in the deal that sent veteran outfielder Robbie Grossman to Texas.

Prior to the trade, Hoopii-Tuionetoa pitched brilliantly for the Frisco RoughRiders, appearing in 10 games and posting a 0.00 ERA over 12.1 innings, with 16 strikeouts and only four walks. At the time, Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa seemed like a promising bullpen prospect.

After joining the White Sox, he reached his highest minor league level, pitching 8.2 innings for the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, although he struggled to a 13.50 ERA.

His tenure with the White Sox organization ended in July 2025 when he was released by the ACL White Sox after not pitching during the 2025 season.

During his minor league career, Hoopii-Tuionetoa has a 9-10 win-loss record with a 3.82 ERA. He now rejoins the RoughRiders in hopes of rebuilding his tribe and climbing the ladder to the big league club.
