The Dodgers released Taylor in May 2025, and he spent the remainder of his season with the Los Angeles Angels.
‘Oh no, I’m still playing’ Taylor said. “Don’t pull me yet, Vassegh. No, I’m still playing. I’m here in Arizona training. Um, you know, I… I don’t know where it will be yet, obviously with the current free agency, but I will be playing again next season.”
He also elaborated on his mindset as spring training approaches.
“I’m really just…right now I’m just focused on getting myself right,” Taylor said. “Being ready to show up to spring training and play my best the way I know I’m capable of playing. Um, trying to get the body right, make sure I’m healthy and able to stay on the field.”
Taylor battled an injury last season after leaving the Dodgers, breaking his hand after being hit by a pitch in his 10th game with the Angels. He returned a few months later, but re-aggravated the injury during a diving game against the Seattle Mariners. He finished the year with 30 games for the Angels and posted a .599 OPS.
When did Chris Taylor play for the Dodgers?
The Dodgers acquired Taylor from the Seattle Mariners midway through the 2016 season and kept him until his release last year.
During his 10 years with the Dodgers, Taylor slashed .250/.330/.431 with 108 home runs and 423 runs batted in. He made one All-Star appearance with the Dodgers in 2021, when he hit 20 home runs and recorded a career-high 73 RBIs.
Taylor, 35, clearly has some fight left in him and will look to return for his 13th MLB season in 2026.
“I think I have to prove myself more and that’s the most important thing,” he said. “And, uh, yeah, I couldn’t put it up now without feeling some regret.”
