Hernandez will headline UFC Houston on Saturday against Strickland in a pivotal middleweight bout. Off to the fight, Hernandez is a significant -310 favorite, while the former champion is a +230 underdog FanDuel.
Going into the fight, Hernandez is confident that his pace and pressure, along with his wrestling, will be too much for Strickland. He also believes this is a perfect fight for him to really showcase all his skills.
“This one really makes me super excited because I love the energy to match,” Hernandez said to UFC.com. “If someone wants to get crazy, it’s like, ‘B***h, run it.’ I’m all for it. I’m actually really looking forward to this fight. It makes me super excited. I get to go out there and show what I can do against a tough motherfucker that everyone respects.

Like Hernandez said, he knows Strickland is a tough opponent and as durable as they come.
But since this is the main event and Hernandez still has five rounds to go, he believes he can finish Strickland at UFC Houston to make a statement.
“I’m going to make it happen,” Hernandez said. “You know me. I always find my same ways out there, man. I’m telling you, the way he fights, I think stylistically it’s the perfect fight for me. I think he’s really good, and I fucking respect him. I know he’s tough, I know what he brings. But I think I’m different. I believe I’m worthy of being a world champion.”
If Hernandez gets the win over Strickland at UFC Houston, he could very well get a title shot at middleweight.
