Table tennis volunteer Kevin Taylor says that he is “incredibly proud” to be one of the winners at the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Make a Difference Awards.
The awards were held in the Belgrade Theater in Coventry and celebrated the incredible impact of individuals and groups that use physical activity to improve lives in their communities.
Kevin, chairman of Stratford TTC, won the Active Award.
BBC CWR treats Coventry and Warwickshire, the area where Kevin and his colleagues reach hundreds of people every week with a variety of sessions, including Holy Trinity C from E Primary, Stratford-Uvon Primaire and Croft-Basis Scholen, as well as in the club.
Kevin, also a familiar face in fan zones on different table tennis -, including the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships, said: “I am incredibly proud that I won the Active Award – a moment of enormous meaning, not just for me, but for the sport of table tennis.
“It is really special to see the game that we recognize in this way, and it reflects the thousands of hours in the last six years that focus on growing participation and creating opportunities in Stratford-Uvon, Warwickshire and beyond.
“As I have often said, my mission has always been easy – to ensure that every newcomer leaves the table that has received something, now trust, friendship or joy.
“This prize is for everyone who contributed: those who have played, offered volunteer work, supported and helped us grow. I am deeply grateful to you.
“And if this recognition even inspires a person to pick up a bat and discover the joy of table tennis – then that is the biggest victory of all.”
