Aljamain Sterling questions the current state of MMA and UFC

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has given his thoughts on the state of mixed martial arts and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Aljamain Sterling currently competes in the UFC’s featherweight division, where he has a 2-1 record. While he isn’t one of the frontrunners for a title shot at the moment, he is pushing hard to secure a big fight in 2026 as he looks to join the exclusive group of fighters who have been able to say they are two-weight world champions in the promotion.

As we know, Aljamain Sterling has not been shy in the past when it comes to speaking out against the UFC. He likes to pull back the curtain and give his opinion on what goes on behind the scenes, but equally he is a fighter and wants to give himself the best possible chance to hold gold again.

In a recent discussion with a fan on social mediaAljamain Sterling had some interesting thoughts on how things are going in the sport right now.

Aljamain Sterling’s take on mixed martial arts and the UFC

Sterling: “I miss this era of MMA [referencing iconic McGregor walkout].”

Fan: “When Dana was in the business of promoting and building the sport. It was top sports entertainment. It’s a machine now and I don’t care.”

Sterling: “Amen! It just feels like a bigger company without the care to make the fights feel as big as they deserve, and I’d love to say it, but I won’t. I digress.”

Sterling isn’t the only one who feels this way and many fans agreed with him in the comments, but there were also those who will obviously continue to defend the UFC for as long as possible.
