Alice Robinson records second straight giant slalom victory, while Mikaela Shiffrin finishes sixth in Temblant

Alice Robinson stamped her authority in the women’s giant slalom as she raced to her second straight win FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup 2025-2026 season in Temblant, Canada, on Saturday (December 6).

The Kiwi alpine skier produced a thrilling first run of 1:07.05, giving her a 0.33 second lead over Zrinka Ljutic in second place with two-time Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin in third.

The 24-year-old Robinson had to raise the bar, with Ljutic firmly in first place after her second run. Robinson extended her lead with an equally impressive second run for an impressive victory with a combined time of 2:16.18.

She finished 0.94 seconds ahead of second-placed Ljutic, with local hero Valerie Grenier followed in third place, a second adrift.

Shiffrin couldn’t find the same rhythm as in her first run and had to settle for sixth place with a combined time of 2:17.83.

Austria’s Julia Scheib, who won the opening giant slalom race of the season, skied the first run, helping Robinson climb to first place in the discipline standings.

ā€œThat was really a test race. It felt like the opposite of Copper Mountain last weekend,ā€ Robinson told FIS after the race.

ā€œI’m so excited and so happy that I was able to keep it going after leading the first run. It’s amazing!ā€
