Yup, Alfa Romeo is officially back in Malaysia (again)! After City Motors in the 60s and 70s, Milan Auto in the 90s and Sime Darby Auto Italia from 2005 to 2013, the legendary Italian carmaker is now represented by DLSB Partners Sdn Bhd, an independent private distributor under Atlantis Motor Group, the sole importer of Peugeot and Leapmotor in Malaysia.

A showroom and 3S center are expected to open in TREC KL in December, with branches in Penang and Johor Bahru in the future. Sadly, there’s no launch this evening: both the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV can be booked in Malaysia for an estimated price of RM400,000, with final prices to be revealed in January.

Born (or should we say reborn?) in 2016, the compact sports sedan has been around for a long time, and we’re sure you’ve read and watched all those rave reviews about how great it drives. This is the 2023 facelift, fully imported (CBU) from the Italian Cassino factory, and it looks just as good as it did all those years ago. Those ‘3+3’ adaptive matrix LED headlights certainly help.

This is an Alpha after all, so let’s start with its heart. Our car will be in Veloce trim (just one step down from the full-fat Quadrifoglio), so under that long hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that sends 280 hp at 5,250 rpm and 400 Nm at 2,250 rpm to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The century sprint is done in 5.7 seconds and 240 km/h is the top speed.

The 19-inch phone dialer alloys hide four-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear; tires are 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. There’s variable electric power steering (with a quick ratio of 11.8:1), a Q2 mechanical limited-slip differential, 50:50 weight distribution, a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft, double wishbones at the front and multi-links at the rear.

Inside you’ll find a manually adjustable steering wheel with paddle shifters, 14 Harman Kardon speakers, a wireless charging pad, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch customizable TFT screen and leather sports seats with dark gray stitching. In terms of safety, there is level 2 ADAS, including ACC and Lane Keep Assist. Still drooling?
