Alan Pardew has made a big prediction about how many goals Nick Woltemade will score in total for Newcastle United this season.
Alan Pardew speaks to Talksport about Nick Woltemade:
“He made a nice deal, scored goals.
“That penalty he took against Nottingham Forest, where he just missed it into the top corner, shows the confidence he has.
“I think he will have a great season at Newcastle United.
“Newcastle are probably one of the best teams in the division in that regard (crossing) and they continue to be under pressure.
“So that constant threat of attacking play makes them a real force.
“He will have a nice supply of ammunition to score goals and I think he will do that.
“I think he will finish with 20 goals (this season).”
My thoughts
Nick Woltemade has already shown Newcastle fans that he can score all kinds of goals.
In addition to excellent selfless performances, working hard for the team and helping to initiate attacking moves, Nick Woltemade has now scored three goals with his head, two of them with clever movements, plus a real penalty technique to score a penalty.
Newcastle United still has at least 36 games to play this season, spread over four competitions.
So with six goals already in nine starts, I don’t think anyone will doubt that Nick Woltemade is incapable of scoring another fourteen or more goals in Newcastle United’s remaining 36+ games this season.
As Alan Pardew points out, United also have a formidable supply line.
It’s been a tough start to the season for so many reasons, with Newcastle United scoring just four goals in their first six games. However, 19 goals were scored by United in the next eight NUFC games, suggesting that there will be a very healthy return of goals in the rest of the season, with Nick Woltemade very likely to get more than his fair share.
